Duck Avenger and the Love in the Oblivium
Sep. 4th, 2022 02:20 pmAs you guys probably know, Donald Duck has an extremely popular secret identity as superhero in the Italian Disney comics continuity. The name is "Paperinik" which comes from Paperino (Donald's Italian name) and Diabolik (a famous cult character in pulp Italian comics, a thief and assassin who used disguises and genius inventions to commit crimes), and it's usually translated into English as Duck Avenger.
(And speaking of Diabolik, Milo Manara drew a really cool cover a while ago. It has nothing whatsoever to do with this post, but it's cool art, so take a look at it here: https://fumettologica.it/2017/10/diabolik-fuori-dagli-schemi-mondadori)
There are a billion Paperinik stories in Italian comics, but scanning and translating them and then editing the translation into the scanned pages takes a lot of time and effort. That's why until now I have never posted any, I just don't have the spoons.
Luckily, some kind soul on Tumblr decided to do it! Thank you, Keriwi1 from https://keriwi1.tumblr.com , for scanning translating and editing this story, then giving me permission to repost it!
As per rules of this community, I will post 10 pages out of 30. Disney stories are very fast paced because they are almost always one-shots that have to share the volume with 4-8 other stories, so there is no filler and every plot point has to be addressed and resolved quickly, which is why it was VERY difficult to pick only ten pages. I'll do my best to fill in the gaps with a summary.
